   Shelby County, TN

 
Edward L. Stanton, Jr., was appointed Interim General Sessions Court Clerk of Shelby County, Tennessee on August 08, 2011.  For an entire year, he managed and stabilized the Clerk’s office through a period of transition.  Interim Clerk Stanton then ran a successful campaign and Shelby County voters elected him the General Sessions Court Clerk on August 2, 2012.

Edward “Ed” Stanton, Jr., acquired a wealth of knowledge in over 30 plus years of service with the General Sessions Clerk’s Office.  He is now utilizing his professional experience and public service skills to bring the General Sessions Clerk’s Office to the “cutting edge” of technology.  He aims to create a more customer service oriented office by focusing on customer needs.

Clerk Stanton, a life-long Memphian, celebrates 49 years of marriage to Ruth Johnson Stanton.  He is an active member of The Temple Church Of God In Christ.
