General Sessions Clerk, for the General Sessions Civil Division and the General Sessions Criminal Division.


Edward L. Stanton, Jr. was appointed by the General Sessions Civil and Criminal Judges as General Sessions Clerk Pro Tempore and sworn into office on August 9, 2011.

Mr. Edward Stanton, Jr.’s professional vitae provides a wealth of information as to his experience. He retired from Shelby County Government after over 28 years of service and worked in both General Sessions Civil and Criminal Court offices.

He has also studied Criminal Justice at University of Memphis and served as former Chairman and Board Member of City of Memphis Civilian Law Enforcement Review Board.

Recently, he has been re-elected to the Shelby County Federal Credit Union and serves as Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors.

His vitae reveals that he obtained a Bachelor of Ministry from Charles Harrison Mason Bible College, married over 42 years, has three children and six grandchildren.

These highlighted points are just a few of the many things that Mr. Stanton has accomplished through his distinguished career.

Records Expungement        

Tennessee Code Annotated 40-32-101 allows for expungement of specific class E-felonies and misdemeanor charges for those who qualify.

If you meet the qualifications, your application for expungement will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for processing.
